Food In Sabah

Food Must Eat in Sabah

As we know, Sabah is rich of the natural place. The highest mountain, Mount Kinabalu is here. It also located at the upper part of the east on Borneo Island. Here, we can go touch the natural through the activity like jungle trekking, snorkeling, swimming and etc.

But we also can find lots of food here. Let's see what we can eat here.

1. Fried pork dumpling (Guo Tie in Chinese)

Its cover make from flour powder and the blended meat and some vegetables are putting in it. After that, it had been fried and you may eat it with the soy sauce with garlic and chili. The meat juice literally burst out at the first bite.

2Raw Pork Noodles (Sheng Rou Mian in Chinese)

Any Sabahan that comes back to Sabah, this noodle is definitely on their must-eat list.

The noodle is mixed with pork lards, and more pork lards.

You definitely have to go through heart surgery if you eat this every meal for entire month – but it’s worth the surgery.

Order a soup based noodle to skip the pork lards if you’re afraid of dying early but wanted to taste the noodle that capture many of Sabahan’s heart.

3. Tuaran Noodles
Tuaran noodle is Sabah local specialty. The noodle is made mostly of eggs, you can taste the difference with normal yellow noodles.
Many Sabahans make the effort to have at least one plate of Tuaran noodle whenever they come back from overseas.
Plus, it tastes awesome too.

4. Bak Kut Teh

Yu Kee Bak Kut Teh is known as one of the best BKT restaurant in Kota Kinabalu. Is it the best? Well I tasted better ones but I keep returning to this restaurant. Probably is the strategic location, or the crowds, I guess.

It will be eat with the you tiao and others vegetables to make it tasty.
The pork had been cooked in the medicine soup to become bak kut teh.

5. Seafood
Sabah is the best place to have seafood. It is located near the sea. Gayang Seafood Restaurant is one of the local’s favourite seafood restaurant.

It is located approximate 30 minutes drive from city, this seafood restaurant is located next to a bay, sharing the same sea with its’ competitor, Salut seafood restaurant.

You can find pretty much any seafood here. And different ways to prepare your seafood.

Their main selling point is FRESH seafood.

6. Tenom Noodles

Here’s another noodle that has pork lard! Tenom noodle is a local dish that originates from Tenom. Many like this noodle for it’s simple yet flavorful taste. You can consume it on its own, or eat with other dishes on the menu.

You can choose different toppings for the noodle, and I always go with simple pork slices.
